as for size, the rear windows seemed to be cut larger than necessary, as the rear driver needed to be cut to actually fit without folding in on itself, and the rear passenger bunched up and ended up creasing before it slid all the way through the seals (I did not want to have to cut this one, as cutting the other made it so you could see the border where it wouldn't fully fill the window). I did the windows in stages, first the driver 1 day, then the rear driver the next day, and then both passengers the day after. Have not done the quarters or hatch window yet.
The driver side came out maybe like 95% good (some bubbles here/there mostly small, and seemed to be minor defect/damage to the film itself where you can see it from the outside) I'm assuming the bubbles mostly from the glass not being fully cleaned of debris and from previous film (which was a PAIN to take off, even with a heat gun, as the previous film had already split into multiple layers, so peeling it would just rip layers leaving others stuck to the window. Had to ultimately use a razor blade and scrape for hours. Getting the edges was a nightmare, especially behind the rubber seals in the door.
Anyways, it appears that unrolling and rolling the tint back up in the packaging was not good, as dust and debris seemed to have damaged the remaining tint that was not installed the first day. The second film came out worse, and the remaining 2 more that I did later came out even worse, like scratches in the film, holes that are noticeable from the outside (not so much noticeable from the inside).
I'm likely not going to do the quarters, as the previous film is still in great shape, as well as small and awkward location I am not looking forward to removing the tint there. Same as hatch glass, although previous film is almost the worse in the hatch, removing with the defroster lines in tact will likely be impossible based on the previous windows experience, I also suspect the new film to be damage just as bad or worse as the last couple windows came out, and on the hatch, will probably look horrible, maybe even worse than the current condition.
As for the tint itself: I ordered 5% all around. It's DARK. While you can still see headlights in your side mirrors at night, it's very difficult to see anything around you at quick glances. You virtually can not see into the vehicle from the outside. I had my dash lights on as well as 9" touch radio on, and you could only see those lights, nothing else.
The windows that have been on new tint for 2+ days now seem to stick with rolling window up and down, but I doubt it will last a while. My previous tint was already pulling apart into layers during the summer desert heat (114+ degree F), and this film seems 2x thicker. I'm assuming at first real heat combined with window actuation will pull it or it will start to peel off on it's own. This is due to my personal situation: high heat temperatures, as well as windows that sit tight in the seals, as well as poor removable and cleaning workplace of old windows etc. Under a perfect removal/install, I would think these would stick a lot better.
Lastly: I don't think these actually designed to block heat or UV rays/etc. with them rolled up, I still feel the heat from the sun through the windows... From what I recall from a previous vehicle I paid tons of money for a premium install, I did not notice feeling the heat from the sun, as well as even from the previous tint on this vehicle that was peeling in layers, I could roll the window up and notice a difference in temps. I can't find any details on this tint if they are supposed to block anything, so I can't necessarily dock it for this.
Recap:
* make sure your work place is clean, and your previous windows are completely clean before install.
* Do them all at once, to avoid damaging yet to put on tint from debris, dust, etc.
* The 5% works as privacy tint for sure, have not tried any other % from this company.
* Have your window rolled down just a tad for install (to make sure you can align the top of the window, else risk leaving a small border that can be seen when your windows are completely rolled up)
* Doesn't seem like these block any heat or anything other than light, but I have not fully tested them.
* They seem thicker than normal film, especially what was previously on the vehicle, by at least 2x thickness.
On my vehicle, I paid around $5 a window for this tint, about average and reasonable, I would say, considering the price per roll is about $3/sq ft, and this is already pre-cut (one of the hardest steps). Would I buy from this company again? maybe, 99% of the reason I go for tint is to block heat here in the desert temps, and these seem like they might not do that, the other 1% is privacy, which these do at 5% rating). The pre-cuts were extremely nice, tho, and seemed to be the right size for the most part!
Originally, I thought wow this is too good to be true! Then it turns out I was right... The cellophane that is attached to the adhesive side of the window tint is a pain to get off of the window tint unless you have a second person. This is the first time I've ever used window tint with a cellophane on the adhesive side. In the past I've used different window tint where I've had to cut it to size. Now I know why. I started with the back window of my 4th gen 4runner. The tint was NOT cut to size. It was .5" too long and 2" too wide. The bottom half of the tint didn't even stick to the window. I squeegeed for 20min trying to get the bottom half to stick. I even tried a little heat. Nothing worked. I had to rip it off. After that I didn't trust any of it so I thew the rest away. Extremely dissatisfied with this product.
If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is! I recommend you stay away from this product and by the correct window tint. This tent didn't even come in the correct percentage that I ordered!! Too many issues with this particular product. If I could give less stars on the adhesion I would. If I could give less stars on value for money I would. Once you get around the cellophane the install isn't so bad however it would be nice if it truly was cut to fit. Stay away!!
